India's amusement industry in 2025 has grown into a structured, high-potential sector at the heart of the country’s entertainment and tourism economy. Estimated at ₹11,500 crore in 2023, the industry has reached close to ₹14,000 crore in 2025 and is projected to cross ₹22,000 crore by 2030, according to IAAPI and PwC data.

At the IAAPI Expo 2025, Hon'ble Tourism Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat emphasized the industry's role in boosting tourism and called on stakeholders to turn India into a manufacturing powerhouse for amusement equipment, much like the transformation seen in the toy industry. He underlined the sector’s importance within the larger vision of tourism contributing significantly to India’s GDP.

IAAPI Chairman Mr. Ankur Maheshwary added, "The amusement industry is no longer just about fun—it's about employment, tourism, and exports. With focused policy support, India can lead the world in both experiences and equipment manufacturing."

Today, the sector includes a wide mix of formats: large-scale amusement parks, seasonal water parks, as well as indoor entertainment zones in malls and mixed-use spaces. Parks are expanding aggressively into tier-2 and tier-3 cities, while urban centers continue to adopt newer formats like snow parks, trampoline arenas, and themed play zones. Technological upgrades—such as contactless ticketing, improved safety systems, and real-time operations management—are becoming industry norms.

IAAPI is at the forefront of these developments, advocating for industry status across states, organizing training programs, and standardizing operations. The 2025 IAAPI Expo witnessed a 20 percent increase in footfall over the previous year, reflecting growing investor interest and sectoral momentum.

As India's broader media and entertainment sector grows from ₹2.45 lakh crore in 2023 to an estimated ₹3.65 lakh crore by 2028, the amusement industry is poised to emerge as a major driver—one that offers immersive recreation, supports domestic manufacturing, and positions India as a leader in global family entertainment.

With the right combination of visionary policy, public-private collaboration, and continued innovation, India has the opportunity not just to serve its vast domestic audience, but to become an exporter of world-class amusement rides, attractions, and concepts. The next five years could mark India's transition from a consumer of global experiences to a global provider of homegrown entertainment excellence.
